The snows that fell in mid January hung around well into February due to the cold spell of weather, with many members continuing to enjoy the conditions.
Jan Lancaster had a day off work and walked up Y Garn: much better than working

Meanwhile, Mick and Clare Fox went up Lingmoor which gave great 'alpine' type views of the Langdale Pikes
And of Pavey Ark

Sunday was a superb day once you rose above the thick cloud that covered most of the southern Lakes. A lovely temperature inversion was the reward for those that managed to.

This was taken by Angie Mitchell from Loughrigg looking towards Bowfell

A brocken spectre, also by Angie on Loughrigg

Norman Bell, a good friend of the Fellfarers, was also out on the same Sunday . Here are some photos taken from the Nab Scar/Heron Pike area.

By the middle of the month, the weather had turned wet and the snow was disappearing fast. Here is an odd sign near Tebay outside a dilapidated building reading -"This property has been entered for the Guildway national quality award 1975"

Annual Dinner

34 members attended an excellent annual dinner at the Eagle and Child in Staveley.

Mid-week Walk - Cartmel Fell
Frank Haygarth, Ellie Woodburn, Mick & Clare Fox, Val & Colin Hunter, David & Jane Robinson, David Birkett, Norman Bell,
Hugh Taylor

Meeting up at Bowland Bridge, Frank led us up by Hodge Hill (what a great restaurant that used to be!) and the lovely Cartmel Fell Church, before cutting across to Foxfield and Sow How farm. Gummers How was ascended and lunch was taken before the oncoming rain. The return home was a Frank and Norman affair which took us past the reservoir and into Birch Fell Plantation before alighting onto the road and a return to Bowland Bridge.
The walk was finished off with tea, coffee, and beer. Well done Frank and Norman for another interesting and varied walk that managed to avoid the rain.
